TPM Successfully Transfers Critical BRP Rotax Tooling to New Querétaro Facility

TPM recently completed a high-stakes tooling transfer for BRP Rotax, relocating a 1,000-ton press and five tools to its newly independent Querétaro facility. The move marked a major milestone in TPM’s evolution following its separation from Plasman, and showcased the company’s precision molding expertise, project management strength, and customer-first mindset.

Strategic Separation & Facility Launch

After MiddleGround Capital’s acquisition, TPM spun off from Plasman to focus exclusively on precision injection molding. The new Querétaro site allowed TPM to consolidate operations and better serve customers like BRP Rotax, whose recreational vehicle engine components required uninterrupted production and quality assurance.

Customer Coordination & Requirements

BRP Rotax requested an eight-week production bank to mitigate risk, full dimensional validation, and consistent communication. TPM delivered on all fronts, holding weekly and biweekly meetings with BRP Rotax’s Mexico and Austria teams, and even executing a tool modification mid-project to ensure compatibility.

Challenges & Execution

Managing production remotely at the old site while preparing the new facility posed logistical hurdles. TPM deployed dedicated personnel and executed the press relocation in just three days—well ahead of schedule. Engineering upgrades, including a new screw and barrel, significantly improved part quality.

Results & Recognition

Post-transfer, TPM’s quality scores surged, earning praise from BRP Rotax and new RFQs for future programs. The project not only reaffirmed TPM’s standing but also demonstrated its capability to support intra-Mexico transfers.

In Memoriam: Leonor Isela Rios Lazalde

TPM honors the late Leonor Isela Rios Lazalde, a manufacturing engineer whose leadership was instrumental to the project’s success.

“Leonor Isela Rios Lazalde was the important gear of this TPM machinery to make this transfer happen, leading the meetings with the customer and then communicating to the team. Without her leadership and perseverance, it would not have been completed. All the TPM team members contributed to this project, but what maintained everything together was her knowledge and professionalism.” – Jose Soto, Engineering Manager at TPM

Leonor will be sadly missed by all the team at TPM.

Looking Ahead

TPM’s Querétaro, Juárez, and Monterrey facilities are equipped to handle tool transfers, consolidations, and takeovers from U.S. and Mexican suppliers. The BRP Rotax success story reinforces TPM’s readiness to support customers navigating operational shifts across North America.
